Osseointegration can take anywhere from four months to about six months to complete. Once the bone has bonded with the implant, you can expect it to offer a secure anchor for dental crowns.

The abutment is used as the top of the implant and holds onto the screw that is used to keep a dental crown in place. The screw, or connector, is used to hold onto the actual dental crown. It is important to have this particular restoration replaced every five to 15 years.
