Research has shown that when having a dental implant, the early success of implants were 92% but jumped up to 96% when an antibiotic was used either before or after surgery. Another way to look at is that 8% of the implants failed when not taking the antibiotic versus 4% when they did – or double the chance of failure for those that did not take the antibiotic.
